The main differences between lead salt stabilizers and calcium zinc stabilizers are their environmental friendliness, thermal stability, applicability, and safety.

Environmental friendliness and safety: Lead salt stabilizers contain lead, which is highly toxic and not suitable for transparent products, and have gradually withdrawn from the market in recent years. In contrast, calcium zinc stabilizers are a green and environmentally friendly product that completely solves the problem of sulfur and lead pollution. They have a light weight and can be appropriately increased with inorganic fillers to reduce costs. ‌

Thermal stability: Lead salt stabilizers have excellent thermal stability, especially good long-term thermal stability, and are inexpensive. However, the thermal stability of calcium zinc stabilizers is weaker than that of lead salts, the processing window is narrower, and the control requirements are higher. ‌

Applicability: Lead salt stabilizers are widely used in PVC products due to their excellent electrical insulation and lubricity. However, due to its toxicity, its use is limited. Calcium zinc stabilizers are considered the most promising alternative to lead salt heat stabilizers due to their non-toxic and efficient characteristics. ‌

Lubrication characteristics: In the process of replacing lead salt stabilizers with calcium zinc stabilizers, process parameters need to be adjusted appropriately, mainly because the amount of lubricant used for calcium zinc stabilizers is greater than that for lead salts. ‌

In summary, although lead salt stabilizers have excellent thermal stability and low cost, their toxicity and unsuitability to transparent products limit their application. In contrast, although calcium zinc stabilizers have slightly weaker thermal stability, their environmentally friendly and non-toxic characteristics make them a more preferred stabilizer, especially in fields such as food packaging and medical devices
